Welcome to Lambertville, a point of destination for anyone looking for
charm, character and history. Originally known as Coryell's Ferry,
Lambertville served as a crossing point for George Washington and his
troops. By 1810 the town acquired the name of Lambert's Ville, after
the first postmaster who enraged the Coryells; they thought the town
should have been named after their own Revolutionary ancestor.
Lambertville is a wonderful walking town, full of unique gardens, many
restored Victorian townhouses and mansions, and surprising corners and
alleyways that feel like time has left them behind. Fine artwork and
antique stores line the streets. Stop for coffee on Bridge Street and
walk across the river to New Hope. Or walk the canal and feed the
ducks that live in town year round.
