Highland Farms
Doylestown
Oscar Hammerstein wrote his most spectacular musicals at Highland Farms. This 18th century Bucks County stone and stucco manor house where he lived is also listed in the National Historic Registry.

Grand Formal Living Room
The stately 14 room home is richly enhanced with original leaded glass windows, a hand carved fireplace in the library and period moldings. The main level offers a grand formal living room and dining room with built-in bookshelves and china cabinets.

Library w/Hand Carved Fireplace
This home was voted Inn of the Year when it was a Bed & Breakfast. Four of the bedrooms evoke themes from Hammerstein's most beloved Broadway shows. Special touches include hand-painted wallpaper and floor stenciling.

The "King & I" Bedroom

The Garden Room
The many windows of the garden room create an open and airy environment. This room is a jewel in the living space, and spills out onto the large stone terrace. Outside is a pear-shaped pool (Hammerstein's favorite fruit) with cabana.
On the nearly 5 acres of hilltop grounds, there is also a Har-Tru tennis court, carriage house, wine cellar and bank barn. Under the grape arbor at the rear of the property, Henry Fonda was married to Hammerstein's daughter. Stephen Sondheim and James Michener were among many of the well--known guests. The Doylestown Country Club adjoins the property.
