Historic Farmhouse – Circa 1803
Springfield Township
Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania
Once the watering stop for horses and postal riders en route form Philadelphia to Bethlehem, this historic and charming farmhouse sits on a quiet country road surrounded by six acres of flowering gardens. Lovingly cared for over the years by a master gardener, it is a showplace of rare and American native plants, humming bird and butterfly gardens and nearly four acres of wildflowers. Indoor, the home is true to the period for a 200 years old farmhouse. Stone fireplaces, pumpkin pine floors, old beams and exposed stonewalls provide warmth and character. The original summer kitchen now connects to the main residence, and an early zinc farm sink is still used today. But perhaps best of all are enchanting views of colorful flowers from nearly every window. How grand to wake up everyday in a flower garden.

The Garden
Surrounding the charming old farmhouse are six acres of flowering gardens; four of the acres are planted in wildflowers. Other gardens includes, a host of American native plants, rock garden, Alpine garden, water garden, herb and vegetable garden and odiferous gardens planted especially to attract humming birds and butterflies. Pathways and comfortable benches and tables for dinning are placed throughout the gardens inviting one to linger, ponder and relax. Rare white wisteria, weeping purple plum, and peonies of every variety are just a few of the glorious specimens to discover.

Out building
The "cottage" with window boxes overflowing with flowers, provides a work area for the "caretaker of the gardens". It is used for potting, drying and other garden chores. The bank barn, built of stone and frame, is fully insulated and has water and electricity. Inside are wood floors and a wood burning stove.
